Details of the draws for the Sinnott Autos Ltd Senior Club Championships can be seen here. Note: schedules are subject to change as the tournament progresses, please check your matches regularly in case of any change. Players provide their own balls.  Please bring your money on the night of your first game and it is very important that matches get off on time so please arrive to the club five minutes prior to commencement.

AIB Interfirms 2010

The AIB Interfirms will run from Monday 21st June through to Thursday 15th July.   Below are the team sections and draw dates.  Gaps have been left to allow members who are not participaing in this event to  play.  It is hoped that if the men's 3rd team win their quarter final match in the DLTC Summer League on Saturday they will progress to the semi-finals on Wednesday 23rd June so no matches have been scheduled for that night and we have allowed for a rest night on the Tuesday as many of them are in this competition.  We have done our best to accomodate all the unavailability requests.  A list of team captains will be e-mailed to each captain and if anyone requires numbers please text me on 085 1156051 and I will forward them on to you. There will be four grades in the competition as follows: Grade A:   For players of Tennis Irl Grade 4.1 and above. (DLTC Class 4 and above). Grade B:   Reserved for Grades 4.2 and below. (DLTC Class 5 and below). Grade C:   Reserved for Grades 6.1 and below. (DLTC Class 7 and below). Grade D:   Reserved for Grades 7.1 and below. (Non league and beginners) Teams may only enter in the grade of the highest graded player taking part in that team. The Club may alter the entered grade of a team if it’s appropriate to do so. The minimum age for players is 16. All players may be guests of the firm which they represent. Rules of Play The competition will be run on a round-robin basis. The format of play will be - one ladies doubles, one men’s doubles and two mixed doubles. Each match will normally consist of 44 games i.e. each pairing will play 11 games versus their opposite number. The 11th game will always be a tie-break. Recognised tennis apparel should be worn on court, especially approved tennis shoes. Matches must be played at the times specified. Matches will be scheduled for 7.00pm or 8.30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. Non appearance of a team may result in forfeiture of the match. The tournament committee reserve the right to amend, add to or delete any of these rules. Match cancellations will not be permitted unless authorised by the tournament committee. Their decision is final on all matters relating to the tournament.

Conway Media Club Handicaps Championships 2010

The Conway Media Club Handicaps Championships takes place from Monday April 12th - Friday April 30th.  Please read the notes  below to familiarise yourselves with the handicap system.  To view details Handicaps shown as -3 should read - . 3 (minus point three) which is one shot on every second game. Anyone with a scratch handicap has no number beside their name The date is done in month, day, year.   Explanation of how the handicap system works.   For people with a (+) handicap this will mean you will start each game on that score and your opponent will start their games on their handicap score whether it is a scratch or minus handicap.   For people with a (-) handicap this means that you are assigned that amount of points behind Love, where both handicaps are (-) the lower handicap will start each game on love and the opponent will start the difference in points behind his opponent , e.g. (-15) Vs (-40) is handicaps of (– 1 point) Vs (– 3 points) for this match each game will begin love Vs -30, the (-15) handicap at love with the (-40) handicap beginning on -30. (Two points behind.)   Were there is a (.3) in between the handicap or half a point between the opponents, the starting score will alternate up and down by one point every second game. The greater difference in the starting points is to be used on the service game of the player with the higher handicap.   All matches are played best of 3 sets, all sets must be won by 2 games, tie-breaks are not to be played. Remember to start each game from the correct side of the court as you should always be serving from the right hand side on Deuce points. Cullen Butcher Turkey Tournament 2009

The Cullen Butcher Turkey Tournament will commence on Monday 16th November.  The tournament committee has done its upmost to accommodate requestd unavailability from many participants.  A captain has been designated to each team and is denoted by (c) beside their name in the sections.  Each captain will text their team members in advance of the games confirming dates and times of their games.  Please note that on Thursday's only the early matches do not start until 7.30pm and the late matches at 9.00pm, this is to accomodate children's coaching that require four courts until 7.30pm. Telephone numbers will not be put on the website, a copy of all numbers will be attached to the notice board or if you require a number please text Sinéad on 085 1156051 and it will be forwarded to you.     Turkey Tournament Rules 2009.   Entry fee for this tournament is €10 per person which is given to the team captain on the first night of the team’s match.   There are 15 teams in the competition, 8 per team, there will be a maximum 4 matches to be played by all teams. The winner will be the first to reach 11 games and a tie-break is only to be used if the score is tied at 10pts. If a substitute is required it is up to the captain to find a substitute and not the player.  If you are unable to play please advise your captain asap, (please take into consideration they may be uncontactable during working hours so leave a message or text and they will respond when picked up). Members who are not participating in the event are prohibited from subbing, the sub must be playing in the competition. There will be a Committee member present each evening, so make yourself known if any problems/difficulties arise. There are three sections, A, B and C.  The winners of each of these sections will qualify for a semi-final spot, while one team from the three sections with the next highest number of points will make up the fourth semi-final place on Wednesday 9th  December.  Early matches commence at 7.00pm and late matches at 8.30pm (except Thursday's).  Punctuality is very important to assist with the smooth running of this event. The WTC Senior Club Championships (over 40's) finals have been spread out over a few days due to the bad weather.  The three remaining finals will take place on Wednesday 4th October at 7.30pm.  To keep up to date on how the matches are going click  here . Ruon Print Club Handicaps 2009

Finals of the  Ruon Print Club Handicaps 2009 took place on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th April last.  Results of all the draws are available here .   NOTES: The Tournament Planner Programme does not accept a . (point) or letters in the property box of the handicaps therefore the following notes apply: Anyone that should have a dot between numbers has a / instead. Handicaps shown as -3 should read - . 3 (minus point three) which is one shot on every second game. Anyone with a scratch handicap has no number beside their name The date is done in month, day, year.   Explanation of how the handicap system works.   For people with a (+) handicap this will mean you will start each game on that score and your opponent will start their games on their handicap score whether it is a scratch or minus handicap.   For people with a (-) handicap this means that you are assigned that amount of points behind Love, where both handicaps are (-) the lower handicap will start each game on love and the opponent will start the difference in points behind his opponent , e.g. (-15) Vs (-40) is handicaps of (– 1 point) Vs (– 3 points) for this match each game will begin love Vs -30, the (-15) handicap at love with the (-40) handicap beginning on -30. (Two points behind.)   Were there is a (.3) in between the handicap or half a point between the opponents, the starting score will alternate up and down by one point every second game. The greater difference in the starting points is to be used on the service game of the player with the higher handicap.   All matches are played best of 3 sets, all sets must be won by 2 games, tie-breaks are not to be played. Remember to start each game from the correct side of the court as you should always be serving from the right hand side on Deuce points. Cullen Butcher Turkey Tournament 2008

Congratulations to Team Slovakia who narrowly defeated Team Denmark in the finals of the Cullen Butcher Turkey Tournamnet on Thursday 4th December.   Sandra Power and her team got 35 points and Des Davitt and his team came very close with 33 points.  Many thanks to Robert Cullen for coming along to present both teams with their Turkey / Ham vouchers.  Once again the tournament was a huge success.  All thirteen captains did a great job at fielding their eight players each night they were playing and we were very lucky with the weather.   A big thank you to John Diskin, Glenn Malone and all those who assisted in any way with the smooth running of this event.  Results can be seen here .

Senior Club Championships (over 40's)

The first Senior Club Championships came to a close last Friday night with just one match outstanding.  It was a very successful event with all the participants thoroughly enjoying themselves. Augustus Cullen Law Autumn Cup

The Finals of the very popular Augustus Cullen Law  Autumn Cup competition took place on Friday26th September. This is the third year now that Augustus Cullen Law have very kindly sponsored this event.  Section A was won by Comine Cole and Barry Rooney                  Runners up Maeve McCarthy and John Sexton Section B was won by Heather Sheane and Jan Ove Kristiansen               Runners up Margaret McGrath and Mark O'Neill Section C was won by Berna Collins and Andrew Reynolds                Runners up Ena Hickey and Eric Swayne The prizes were presented by the Tournament Organiser John Diskin and Rachel Liston representing Augustus Cullen Law. A very enjoyable evening was had by all concerned with great food all organised by Kerry Callery and the Social Committee.

Bank of Ireland Club Championships 2008

The annual Bank of Ireland Senior Club Championships came to a close last Friday night. Finals were held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night providing the spectators with a wonderful display of thrilling tennis. With over 100 competitors taking part in 16 events it proved to be an action packed three weeks for both the players and the organisers with only one night's play of matches been disturbed due to rain. It was great to see some new members participating this year with some of them claiming prizes. Many thanks to Colin Kingston from Bank of Ireland who came along to present the prizes. The date, time and court number for each match will be determined by the organising committee.  The draw will be updated and available on our website www.wicklowtennisclub.com and walkovers will be awarded if a competitor fails to show at the appointed date and time.     4. Players participating in the over 35 mixed doubles must have reached the age of 35 prior to 1st July 2010. 5.  The top six juniors are eligible for entry provided they have reached the age of 14 on or before 31/12/2009 6.      A Section – Singles          (a) The top ten players on club ranking lists will have automatic entry to the ‘A’ Section          (b) Any other players deemed by Tournament Committee to be too strong for ‘B’ Section will be entered into the ‘A’ Section.          (c)  Players who reach semi-finals in ‘B’ Section will have the option to enter ‘A’ Section.   Doubles       (d) As there are no doubles rankings, the Tournament Committee will decide which pairings should play in ‘A’ Section.       (e) The finalists in ‘B’ Section will also have the option to play in ‘A’.     7.     B Section   (a) ‘B’ Section will be played to semi-finals of singles and finals of doubles in the first week in         order to allow for 6 ( c ) and 6 (e) above and 8 (a) below.  (b) All players entering the ‘B’ Section may be required to play every night in the first week of the competition.   8.     C Section      (a)    All losers of the first round matches in ‘B’ Section will be allowed entry to ‘C’ Section (any players who give a walkover will not qualify) (b)    Tournament Committee may allow direct entry to ‘C’ Section for beginners or players in the lower grades. 9.     Semi-finals and finals of all three Sections, (except as in 7(a) above), will be played in the final week of the      championships.   10.   The Tournament Committee is resolved that all matches will be played as scheduled. Exceptions/postponements will be granted only as a last resort and the player(s) involved may have to play twice on the following night. 11.   The tournament committee will try to facilitate competitor’s unavailability to play on certain nights but will not allow rescheduling of matches to interrupt the smooth running of the tournament.  The tournament committee will insist on walkovers being given if matches cannot be played on time. 12.  Competitors can advise on a maximum of three nights of unavailability during the tournament for which the tournament committee will try to facilitate.  The tournament committee will try to facilitate the postponement of one match per person in the entire tournament.  Your request for postponement must be given in advance of scheduled match day. 13.  Tournament Committee decisions will be final in all matters.  Members of the Match Committee will be in attendance at the clubhouse to accept entries on Thursday 22nd July between 8.00pm and 9.00pm.  The full draw will be posted on the main noticeboard in the clubhouse as well as on our website www.wicklowtennisclub.com on Thursday 29th July 2010.  The appropriate fee must accompany all entries.
